Yeah, this is a ~great~ idea. I think we can all see where this is going! Gag ...

"Global studies" and the environment ... ugh ... all part of that wonderful social justice movement! :hand

I bet it will stick.

I read that earlier this morning and just shook my head.
I've come to the conclusion (based on our state) that "state education leaders" are anything but. :no

:bun
I was talking to a mother the other day while our children were in music class. She has two boys in public school. She was complaining that they have to take valentines for every child in their grade, not just for children in their class. So she has to buy 288 (!) valentines and have her children sign each and every one of them. (144 for each child.)
Now she was complaining about the expense... Understandably.
But I was thinking about the environmental impact!!!
I will admit I am a tree hugger - but to a point. I don't like the way the current environmental movement is going at all.
I found the valentines to be horribly ironic...
Here the schools are preaching "Save the earth!!!" yet they require each student to bring in 144 commercially produced JUNK pieces of paper declaring your "love" for someone you probably don't even know!
And because everyone has to "Keep up with the Jones" (whoever they are) you know many of those valentines are going to have (Chinese made) trinkets or stickers or (obesity producing) candy attached!
And how much of that will end up in the landfills?!
Guess saving the earth starts on February 15th this year... :drama

If you heard screaming a second ago, that was me.

"We are certainly not trying to go away from American history," Rebecca Garland, the chief academic officer for North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, told Fox News. "What we are trying to do is figure out a way to teach it where students are connected to it, where they see the big idea, where they are able to make connections and draw relationships between parts of our history and the present day."

How can students "connect" to a history that is only partially told? Case in point - you cannot understand the situation in the Middle East today (at least a secular understanding) if you don't go back to the crusades. You can't "get" the Irish situation if you don't go back to the English Civil War (1660). HOW IN THE WORLD can you understand the history of your own country, if you only cover the last 100 years?

Think about what this means.

- It means that the majory of events in American history that were founded upon Biblical principals are being cut.

- It means that Congressional acts referencing our Christian heritage are going to be cut out.

- It means that the RELIGIOUS basis for the Civil War will be overlooked in favor of a socialist interpretation of the Civil Rights movement of the 1950s.

And those are the three points I thought up, typing at 10,000 characters per hour.... Give me a while and I'll really :soapbox

Off to go scream, cry, pray, and bake brownies....

You probably heard me screaming at my radio at the stupidity of this bureaucrats statement. We have SiriusXM so I can listen to FoxNews on it and when I heard her say this, I yelled a simplistic but good place to start idea, "Give them living books and burn the textbooks!!!!!!!!" :bomb :duh

There's a debate in TX about sanitizing the faith of our early leaders even omitting some things all together and add other more "current" figures and events. :hot :hot

It is a very blatant attempt to continue down the path of indoctrination instead of education. :mad

Better get off this or I'm going to get an ulcer. :soapbox
