FANTASTIC boys' devotionals

Postby LisaG » Tue Feb 02, 2010 5:39 pm

Ds & I have gone through "Boyhood & Beyond: Practical Wisdom for Becoming a Man" and "Created for Work: Practical Insights for Young Men", both by Bob Schultz. They are so practical and every-day-applicable, the author has a great way of showing how scripture really does show young men how to live. He has another he wrote that we haven't started yet called "Practical Happiness: A Young Man's Guide to a Contented Life" that I'm sure will be excellent as well. :yay

We have these books as well and I love them. :love I started out by reading them myself because I wasn't sure of the age level they were geared for. About 1/2 way through Created For Work, I told DH I thought that he should read these to DS. So, that is the plan, I still do devotions with ds in the mornings, but DH will do a bedtime devotion from these books. :yes

Such a GREAT resource for raising boys into MEN!!! :cheering

OK, see my DD MUST have an arranged marriage with one of the FABULOUS young men on this forum. So many of the boys we see today are just NOT being raised to be men.

One even has a mom who introduced him to nail polish and lets him WEAR it (but he only does it on school breaks, of course.) :hand

OH NO! That makes me sick in my gut! :yuck :yuck I really hope that boy will learn some good "manly" lessons to counteract that!

Actually, I've had a few moms come up and say the same thing to me!!!! Poor Nic, he's already married off in several of our minds!!!!

I think if Nic turns out to be 1/2 of what we hope he will be, he'll still be 100% better than what we see in alot of the boys 'turning into men' these days. :yuck

Thanks for reminding me about them! ;)
